For those of you hopeing to seeTHE MYSTERIES OF LOVE at the BCA and The Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh; we are sorry but due to unforseen circumstances, the show is having to be moved to a date in 2011. Please come back and check for more dates. As a part of BACs celebration of all things David Lynch, Green Room award-winner Mikelangelo is joined by his partner Saint Claire for The Mysteries of Love. Deeply inspired by Lynchs work, this cabaret performance will be an evening of 1950's style love songs and lullabies, including interpretations of the music from Twin Peaks. The Mysteries of Love is inspired by a series of text messages and love letters shared between Saint Clare and Mikelangelo over a number of years. Fragments of memories and daydreams have been woven into a series of lullabies, performed as solos and duets. These original songs are performed alongside love songs by Julie London, Elvis Presley, April Stevens and Nick Drake. The Mysteries of Love chronicles the strange and bewitching paths of the heart where yearning, melancholy and desire give rise to an enduring sense of hope and optimism.Thought provoking and heart-warming throughout Artshub*Saint Clare and Mikelangelo will perform a shorter version of The Mysteries of Love on Saturday 23 October as part of the Twin Peaks Weekender
Internationally acclaimed and immaculately dressed, Mikelangelo & the Black Sea Gentlemen are the most devilishly handsome, musically brilliant and audaciously entertaining fellows you are ever likely to meet.Mikelangelo, part-ringmaster, part-crooner, part-beast possessed, has toured the world starring in the Olivier award-winning La Clique. With the Black Sea Gentlemen he has packed housed from Budapest to the Sydney Opera House, enthralling audiences, critics and artistic peers alike with their visceral and intoxicating Kabaret Noir.'Barrel-shaped ringleader, Mikel Simic, has a voice of operatic grandeur, capable of moving in many directions to suit the material. And that material's hilariously over the top all sex and death and death and sex. Achingly beautiful tunes are paired to the most bonkers lyrics... They're divine!' The Scotsman'A riotous mix of songs, storytelling and sinful behaviour... highly infectious and constantly amusing... Long may these deliciously dark gentlemen continue to stage their devilish cabaret.' The List'Riotous fun and frankly unforgettable, this is a twisted cabaret of dark delights' The List'Exuberant, faintly disturbing and extremely funny' The Independent'A satanically funny take on cabaret noir... the kind of stirring music that proves the devil really does have the best tunes' Metro (read less)
